FPD Spike Edit packs

Postby crippler19 » Wed May 02, 2018 11:12 pm

Does anyone have a listing of who was in the FPD Edit packs that Spike released? I thought I had it somewhere but can't seem to find it.

A few more of those were reveled. #9 was Wolf Hawkfield. Barry Windham is in there, but I don't know what number.

There is a bearded guy in young lion gear that hasn't been identified. And somebody in MMA gear with a dragon mask.

I wish I had the formulas for all the fictional characters. They're all officially released characters. Canon. They should be in the Anthology.

I'd like to look through them and see if there is anything interesting. Never had a dreamcast though.

Don't think that's Barry Windham (#5 which uses the Jericho head). Sure the edit has a Superplex but the finisher is set as a German Suplex.

Couldn't you use a Dreamcast emulator to check out the edit pack wrestlers and transfer them to your project?

Guess it's unconfirmed, but there is a bit of an explanation here. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1172099400&searchtext=barry+windham

It would be awesome if somebody could do screenshots of those "fictional" edits. I can't get any Dreamcast emulator to work on my computer.

I found this file which contains Fire Pro D Saves. I have no idea whether these are the official edit packs though:

It's been a long time since I've done work with FPD saves. But if the files you guys are talking about are .VMS files (or you can convert them into .VMS files), then my old guide below may help you if you have a NEXUS card.

Spoiler: show
This is the guide I made for converting VMS to DCI files for use with the Dreamcast and FPD.

You need to get two software programs. Both can be found at this page:

http://www.deco.franken.de/myfiles/myfiles.html

You need

1) DCI / VMI File Creator v1.6
2) VMS Checksum Calculator v1.2

Ok, so you have a VMS file right? First thing to do is run it through the VMS checksum program. If you dont do that for a VMS file, then it wont transfer correctly into a DCI file.

So once you have the VMS Checksum program ready on your computer, just drag your VMS file into the Checksum program and the program itself will take care of it!! Easy! :)

Then comes the more difficult step. Make sure the DCI/VMI file creator is ready (downloaded, unzipped, etc). Then you drag the VMS file (which you already put through the rigors of the checksum!) into the DCI/VMI program. I'll take you through each question the program asks:

1) Is (the name of your VMS file).VMS a (D)ata file or a (G)ame file? (D/G)?
-Edit packs are always Data files so type D to get to the next question.

2) Filename for DCI output file (max= 8 chars, without .DCI):
-Put the filename you want it to be called. Like "my edits" or "ECWeditpack".

3) DCI file copyable (y/n)?
- It IS copyable so type Y

4) Filename that appears in VMU directory:
- Ok, its a bit tricky here. You are being asked to create a filename that the Dreamcast itself reads, as opposed to the filename in step 2 which was for your organization.
The FIRST part of the filename will be "FIREPROD". Then you have to figure out what file you are using and what slot you want it to occupy in the memory card.
Lets say that you want your edit pack to be in slot #1. Then your response to question 4 will be "FIREPROD.E01". The last # signifies the slot you want.

5) VMI program description:
- I just say "no". I'm not entirely sure what this part does but it shouldnt matter much if you just say "no". I say that and i never have a problem getting the DCI to work.

6) VMI copyright information:
- I just put no again. You can probably put what you want up the maximum they say.

OK, now the file has been created. You just need to find where on your computer it went. If your'e using Win XP, (as I am), go to "Documents and Settings". Then look in the folder that represents the desktop profile that you used to make the file and run the program (and, assumingly, are still using right now to view this file). If you cant find the file, just search for what your answer to question #2 was from the above DCI conversion program.
You're good to go! Hook up the Nexus card, transfer the DCI file to it and then to the DC!

Note: My description above is mainly for converting an FPD edit pack but i think it can be also used for other files. I think you can convert other files as well but i'm not 100% sure of the file extensions. Edit packs have extensions "E0X" where X is the edit pack slot. (For example: FIREPROD.E01) Moves have the "WXX" extension (such as FIREPROD.W01). I'm pretty sure logos have the "P0X" file extension such as FIREPROD.P01 but i'm not totally sure about that. I've never actually convered a logo or move using the DCI program, I've only converted edits. But other guides i have seen briefly allude to the fact that you can do the others too.

Alternatively, if you can get your hands on Jason Blackhart's old "FPD Edit" program, you can load .VMS files into that program to check out moves, logic, etc of each edit on a .VMS pack.

I (may)stand corrected, I guess he does seem to be Barry Windham. Usual Fire Pro Gaijin Funkiness (see Rick Rude). I know some guys had a different moveset in Japan but man, no Implant DDT(there is the corner avalanche ddt) and the Superplex doesn't even rate as a Special? Oh well!
