How you've organized promotions and stables...

Postby Skankenham » Sat Sep 09, 2017 7:46 pm

Being nuts I've subscribed to 771 wrestlers now on steam workshop.
Plus I've made 3 of my own and a couple unpublished alternate versions.

So here's what I've done:

-=Promotion: M.U.S.C.L.E.=-
Kinnikuman (and closest allies)
Good?
Reformed (villains that became allies)
Heel?
300 Pointers
-=Promotion SWA=-
Zero Escape (characters of another Spike Chunsoft series)
SWA Good Girls (moved from SWA Babyface)
SWA Face
SWA Heel
-=Promotion Women=-
Mae Young Classic (herself and competitors)
NXT girls
WWE girls
WWF woman (from earlier times)
GLOW
Jpn Women
Women
More Women
Even more
(Will probably take female Luchadors out of the undefined mixes for their own stable)
Outlandish
Capcom girls
SNK girls
MK women
MMA Women
-=Promotion WWE=-
WWF 80's/Classic
WWF 90's
Attitude
WWE
NXT
-=Real=-
Luchadors
Folk Heroes (Mil Mascaras, Blue Demon Jr., El Santo)
WCW
ECW
Legends
Other (Japanese and others)
MMA
Musicians
-=Various=-
E-Fed (may make a promotion with various stables as people's different promotions)
8-bit NES
Capcom (grapplers and Darkstalkers only, no strikers such as Ryu etc)
Technos (an 8-man Battle Royal of these was almost nothing but strikes though)
Other games
-=Unreal=-
Comics
Cobra (GI Joe's enemies)
Monsters (neutral, because some good, some evil, and some just misunderstood)
(Might make Animals separate from monsters, and put the Elephant Man here just to be a jerk if someone makes him)
WTF

I haven't gotten too organized as of yet as sorting wrestlers either their factions is currently a pain. I normally keep the main eventers at the top and jobbers at the bottom.

Ah, trying to change wrestler order goes painfully slow for me. And making all of the promotions with sub stables, makes it easier to browse and find so many and possibly easier loading of smaller groups at a time. I have a little below the required system requirements but in actual matches, even crazy 8 man Royals it plays just fine. Plus I can sort good or realistic wrestlers, from MMA, strikers, or ridiculous.

I've got somewhere around 1800 or so downloaded, and right now my main sorting plan is to do (for the Feds) FPWA, the Fire Pro Anthology, Women wrestlers in general, WWE (which includes WCW, ECW, AWA and WCCW, of course), Japanese feds in general (I'll probably sub-sort once I have them more organized) and then some other unsorted group.

My general categories for the stuff I make:

*Pioneer: These are wrestlers from the 1800s into the early 1940s or so, with sub groups of Pioneer and Pre-TV era to separate that vast time span
*TV Era: Late 40s through the 1970s, with a general category as well as promotions including the AWA and WWWF
*1980s: Rather self explanatory, although my WWF is staggered a bit into the 90s, anything before the New Generation from the first few years of the 90s still fits here, along with my AWA, NWA and a few others
*1990s: Another one that mostly explains itself, WWF, WCW, ECW, NJPW, AJPW being the heavy hitters
*2000s: The previous decade, but I think I'm also going to sort out anyone who's retired in the last seven years into this currently sparse category
*Current: People currently wrestling, WWE and NJPW being the main ones at this point in time

*Martial Arts: Heavyweight Boxing, Pride FC, UFC, Kickboxing, Traditional/Miscellaneous all being categories
*Other: Senator Steve Phillips, Cowboy Johnston, Tomas the Tiny Giant, Masa Tokugawa and Jack Bauer all live here
*FPA: This is where I put the community edits

I should also mention that I get far too involved in getting the wrestler order just right, and that is currently far too inconvenient a task than it should be.

I've got promotions set up like Fire Pro 6MS, even in the same order. I'm on a nostalgia kick with Fire Pro Anthology.

I like Senator and Old Baby's ideas. Way to go with the historic organization, Senator. That reminds me I gotta scan a page out Gichin Funakoshi's autobiography. He lived through 3 major eras of Japanese history and is the founder of Shotokan, the first to teach Okinawan Karate to the Japanese and publish books on it. At one point he goes on about seeing Pro Wrestling on TV and that Rikidozan's "Karate Chop" is not the same as a Karate shuto, though he respects him for popularizing wrestling.

Managing rosters is currently a gigantic pain in the area. It needs an easy drag-and-drop interface stat.

My rosters kinda look like this.

--FWF-- (fictional wrestlers and videogame characters)
Heroes
Villains

--WWF--
Babyfaces
Heels
Babyface Tag Teams
Heel Tag Teams
Jobbers
Managers

--WWE--
Raw
Smackdown
NXT

--WCW--
Babyfaces
Heels
Luchadors

--NWO--
Wolfpack
Hollywood
Japan

--The Dump--
DJKM Templates
Trash Can (it's easier to move people to an unused faction than to actually delete them)
Otherwise known as Eddie Lukin in Fire Pro circles.
Say hey if you remember Pro Wrestling SHAFT!

Upon release, I subscribed to 1000 edits, put them in various factions, then spent 4 hours deleting all of them so I could organize edits by maker. Now I have one promotion for my edits and the rest grouped by maker.

I used to have a separate Legends promotion but now I just have periodic "factions" under each promotion.
For example:
All Japan
- Main Roster
- 10's
- 00's
- Late 90's
- Mid 90's
- Early 90's
- 80's & 70's

Since I use original edits and other people's original edits, I categorize them by author under specific promotions.

My promotion is Typhoon Pro, so I have my edits split into Male and Female. I'm part of a group of creators called the Multiverse and I've put groups inside of that promotion based on who the other creators are in the group (there's a few of us). Then I have the FPCPP edits. I really need to go back and rearrange my groups, but I'll probably wait to do that.

Given that I only use my own edits, my roster is just seperated by promotions and those have their various teams/stables as groups within them.
