FPWR Save Conversion Kit v1.3 (2016-09-06)

Postby C-Drive » Fri Jan 22, 2016 6:09 pm

Presenting the Fire Pro Wrestling Returns Save Conversion Kit.

I expanded on the work I did in developing a script for converting .max files into PlayStation Network (PlayStation 3) compatible saves. I'll keep that one around as there is some nice simplicity in it, but this new set of scripts here has the bells and whistles.

With v1.3, you can currently do the following with any .MAX, .PSU, or .VME file:

  • Insert into a PlayStation Network (PlayStation 3) Compatible .VME
  • Convert .MAX into .PSU
  • Convert .PSU into .MAX
  • Convert .MAX or .PSU across any of the three different save regions (JPN, PAL, & USA)
  • Quickly load a .MAX or .PSU file into a new .PS2 memory card file for PCSX2
  • Convert .XPS & .CBS into .MAX
  • Convert a PlayStation Network (PlayStation 3) Compatible .VME into .PS2 memory card file for PCSX2

Let me know if you have any issues or something you might need in a future version.

This is amazing. Thank you. As a Pal region player that means I can now download anything. I just need around a dozen memory cards.

I'm glad it's useful for you - I hoped it would open up anyone to be able to download and use any save without issues.

It's work like this that really demonstrates the value of fan based communities. I shudder to think where we'd all be without special niches to share our common passions. Honestly, how did people live before the internet?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, many thanks for helping make FPR a richer experience for others. Cheers! :numberone:

This is one of the coolest tools EVER released in this community. EVER.

I absolutely love this. One stop shopping for annoying and time-consuming (especially MAX->PS2) conversions.

These save conversion programs are already some of the best things to come from the Arena reboot 8-)

Excellent work and passion here, C-Drive :markout: :D :numberone: :ceese: :nuderdance:

Thank you geese.

You said MAX to PS2...actually it only converts to .PSU format - BUT - that's a good suggestion for the next iteration. Actually inserting the .MAX (or .PSU) file into a .PS2 file.

LOL I'm glad I accidentally gave you a good idea there

I typo'd and originally meant MAX to PS3, meaning VME, which it already does.

Inserting the .MAX into a .PSU and then inserting them both into a .PS2 file is a good idea as an option.

The geese spoke, and so it has come to pass.

v1.1 now available with the .MAX and .PSU loading option! Check the original post.

There have been many times in this community where I have gleefully stood upon the shoulders of giants.

I am proud to have made that tiny suggestion upon your already excellent project :D

I have to update the hashes when encrypting into .VME via command line, I'm not able to "un-update" the hash via command line and decrypting. You can still process the .VME file through the ps2classics software and decrypt it (doing the old instructions in reverse).

Not actually - jeff did conversions from PS2 to PS3's that had the backwards compatible chips on them. It's the reason I always indicate conversions as "PSN Version".

The backwards compatible PS3's had a different file format all together, and as far as I know there's no way to convert from PS2 to PS3 Backwards Compatible without the PS3 Memory Card Adapter.

I think there is software that can decrypt from PS3 Backwards Compatible to PS2 though.

Ahh, I see. Well then, justjeff... BACK TO WORK! :deadhorse:

For real though, I didn't realize that. I started out playing on the actual PS2, and used Pelican Codebreaker. Then, I moved on to the emulator, so I never was in need to look into the PS3-related saves. I've only dealt in .CBS and .MAX.

.tar isn't a PS2 memory card file type that I've ever heard of.

If I'm not mistaken, .tar is just a compression file type, like .zip or .rar - 7zip should be able to unpack it.

It hasn't given me an option to unpack it :/

Might have to right click and use the "7zip" context menu, "Open as Archive" or "Extract Here".

Is there any utility that converts .VME files into .PS2?

I'd like to be able to use an edit I made on the PSN game with the PCSX2 emulator...

No. Just do this guide in reverse. That's what I did when I moved my PSN save back to my emulator. It's easy as pie.

Thanks. Before I read your reply I found something online that helped using the ps2classic tool included with the download: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=53856

It was just the case of:

1. copying the .vme file into the ps2classic folder
2. Hold shift + right click and select Open Command Window Here
3. Input the following command line using 0 or 1 where * is depending on your VME file name:

ps2classic vd cex SCEVMC*.VME MC.PS2

This creates the .PS2 file that can be renamed Mcd001.ps2 or Mcd002.ps2 depending on your preferred slot and pasted into the PCSX2 memcards subfolder

Apologies if this is already common knowledge but hopefully it will help someone sometime :-)
