Wasteland Fight Club

The End is Here.

In a post-apocalyptic world made inhospitable, where protective goggles and leather bodysuits have become necessary for day-to-day survival, a new system of hierarchy and dominance is established... Wasteland Fight Club. The rules are simple: fight until somebody stops moving. Many will try, but only one can become - King of the Wasteland!

These edits are meant to be simmed or played within Gruesome Fighting. The goal is “realistic” and strategic pacing, with a variety of positions and progression throughout a fight, ending from a mix of (mostly) satisfying finishes. Moveset selection is crucial to this end, tending towards “realism” in a fight setting and building up from non-devastating moves at Sml and Med, reserving anything hard hitting for Big slots.

All offensive parameters are maximum and defensive parameters minimum, as well as all skills and endurances set to lowest. Logic is compartmentalized into early and late sections, where (Big) slot moves will only start happening near the end of a fight and are all capable of stopping an opponent, and almost certain to do so if they have an F or S designation.

To ensure a variety of positions and potential finishes, there are two Pin Down and Back Switch move slots each which shouldn’t be changed in Front Grapples, and a Guard Position and Back Mount Position for Opponent Down. The default Template logic will allow an edit to move through as many positions as available in Gruesome Fighting and keep things interesting until some brutal finish or another (for the most part).

If you want to make your own Wasteland edit, download the Template to get started. There are some restrictions on what can be changed for official tournament purposes, in the interest of keeping this particular style of pacing in tact and maintaining some level of parity among competitors.

Anything that is not explicitly listed below is free to be changed. However, whatever is listed will either have options to choose from, or if it’s just one setting listed then it should be left that way same as the default template.

-Wrestler Name and Profile-

Code: Select all

Class: (Heavy)
[So that every edit can compete for the same belt in tournaments. The actual character can be any size and any thing.]
Gender: (Male)
[This is to ensure super stomp works for and against all edits on Entertainment moves like Liplock. Your character can be male, female, or anything in between.]

-Wrestler Appearance-

Code: Select all

Something apocalyptic and cool!

-Skill-

Code: Select all

Fight Style: (Shooter, Fighter, Grappler)
CRITICAL! Ability: (Finisher)
Special Skill: (Finisher)
Recovery/Breathing/Spirit: (Lowest)
Neck/Arm/Back/Leg Endurance: (Lowest)
Exchange Blows: (Disable)

-Parameter-

Code: Select all

Atk: All (10)
Def: All (1)

-Moveset-

Code: Select all

[Try for something semi-realistic, moves that are at least arguably plausible in a fight.
No straight up pro wrestling moves that require an opponent to fully cooperate to even get into position for, let alone pull off against an unwilling foe.
Moves in the (Big) slots of any position are going to be what end fights for the most part, so reserve the big stuff for those which only happen near the end of a fight anyway.
Anything with the F designation is almost certain to end a fight, and S’s will greatly help toward that end as well so reserve them for moves you want to see stop an opponent.]

Standing
Front Grapple (Pin Down and Back Switch shouldn’t be replaced, there’s two of each)
Back Grapple
Back Counter
Opponent Down Face Up (Guard Position shouldn’t be replaced)
Opponent Down Face Down (Back Mount Position shouldn’t be replaced)
Guard Position/Mount Position/Back Mount Position

-CPU Logic-

Code: Select all

[0’s shouldn’t be changed.
Points can be redistributed among slots that already have points assigned.
I would recommend mostly leaving logic as-is, it’s meant to be pretty balanced and offer a variety of output and finishes within this style of Gruesome Fighting.]

Stand Back
Initiate Grapple: (Max 25)
Stand Back: (Min 25)
Stand strikes combined: (Max 25)
[The Maximum and Minimum thresholds here should be considered extremes within this system, not standards which should be met by every edit or any style.
Initiate Grapple and Standing strikes can be well below the 25 point maximum.
Stand Back can be well above the 25 point minimum.
Variations in these settings will be a big part of an edit’s character and style, which will translate to a greater variety in the pacing of fights between different styles.
The default template settings should work fine for most edits if there is no particular reason to adjust.]

Ukemi
0/0/0

Showmanship/Discretion/Flexibility
0/0/0

Weapons
(Max 20)
[This would only apply for modded Gruesome Fighting]

The short version:

1. Download the Template.

2. Give it a post-apocalyptic fighter appearance.

3. Pick moves that sorta make sense for a fight among the following categories:

Code: Select all

Standing strikes
Front Grapples (Pin Down and Back Switch (x2) shouldn't be replaced)
Back Grapples
Back Counter
Opponent Down (Guard Position and Back Mount Position shouldn't be replaced)
Guard/Mount/Back Mount

4. If you wanna change logic settings, just leave any 0's (including ukemi and personality logics) and redistribute among moves with points already set. Stand Back logic has the following limits:

Code: Select all

Initiate Grapple: (Max 25)
Stand Back: (Min 25)
Stand strikes combined: (Max 25)

5. Don't change skills or parameters, except Move Speed to fit character. Leave gender setting for all edits as Male so the super stomps work for everyone. Also, leave the Weight Class as Heavy so all edits can participate in tournaments for the belt.

6. Download other Wasteland edits.

7. Sim or play Gruesome Fighting, 1 round 30 minutes.

There will be a tournament to crown the first King of the Wasteland soon, and hopefully a tournament every month thereafter.

Everyone's dead. Let's fight.

Spoiler: show
I'll throw up some of my wasteland boys later, I can actually write backstory for those guys without having to lock myself in creative exile afterwards.

Thanks to BozoSama for the sick graphics, in the post here and Steam Workshop Collection logo.

Far as anything being too goofy, I'm not gonna be much of a gatekeeper. Follow your heart. I think a cyber-gorilla with a chainsaw on its forehead is just fine, for example.

Lost both of his hands in an explosion trying to handle an explosive device. Forced to wear metal prosthetic hands. You don't wanna get punched in the face with those metal hands. And those are not tattoos on his arms and chest. Those are fresh scars.

WIP and I'll have him ready in the workshop in a few days.

Also, thanks to JesterJay (wherever you are!) for the sweet background banner on the Workshop collection page.

 There's no rush. If there are more than 32 edits, we'll figure out some qualifiers and such so everyone at least gets a shot.

Cool backstory and classically apocalyptic appearance for Peace Keeper!

I realize I didn't really explain anything about the style, beyond the theme being evident.

The idea with the template and the edits fighting within a specified style close to it and all the restrictions/guidelines is to try and replicate a "real" fight (granted....). So, fighters are cautious, hesitant, because getting hit hurts. A lot. And if they've been hit enough, then getting hit with something big late.... well, that's that.

Here are a few clips to give you an idea of this in action.

Holy crap, hi Changmang! Would you wanna reupload your two edits so they're under you own name/account? They're currently using the standard template logic on top of your own appearances/movesets, but if you wanna adjust logic or just to have them in your own workshop instead of mine, please do! I'd personally like to see the creator's names in the collection description where it lists contributors, instead of just in the edit descriptions where I put them.

lol. I included Wasted The Rock in the collection, but does this mean he shouldn't be taken into consideration when it comes to tourneys, etc?

It is my understanding that characters that are either from works of fiction or RL guys aren't usable in FPWA dealings? Unless this isn't an FPWA event proper, in which case, go nuts....

Dr. Artemis Wrayns
Artimes Wrayns is a mysterious stranger in the wasteland. He emerges during times of conflict. He takes the wounded and deceased as his own for one purpose. To return the world back to the way it was.

Many believe he is just a crazed maniac holding on to hope of the old days but others have seen the miracles he is capable of and have named him 'The New Lazarus'

Good luck trying to get one over on him though. He's always with his prized possession. His first experiement Grunk.

Grunk shouldn't exist, but thanks the Dr. Artimes Wrayns he went from being a casualty of the wastes to a behemoth mute. He is very protective of his 'father' and is always by the doctor's side

Oh man, these are all so freakin cool! I love your MINDS. LET ME KISS THEM

Keep em coming as long as there are any who wanna be kept coming. There'll eventually be a tourney qualifier where random drawings will determine participants and losers will be out for the starting 32 entries, but every edit gets a fight.

Friends of the Wasteland:

I've posted some more thorough and updated guidelines above for edits that want to participate in tournaments. They just offer a few more options and some limitations. If all you do is download the template and give it an appearance and moves without changing anything else, you're good to go. If you want to adjust stuff, please look over the guidelines and make sure changes fall within them.
