Tecmo World Wrestling Edits

Postby Horgh666 » Mon Feb 12, 2018 1:01 am

Many moons ago, I created a set of edits for the Super Famicom game Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium based on the NES classic Tecmo World Wrestling but with each given a more distinct personality and style. These were hosted on Phil Holman's SFHack page and got plenty of attention. Then I ported them over to FFPW for the GBA (for which I also wrote the MOR FAQ featured on GameFAQs - Lucha Terry Funk FTW!) but lost everything due to losing my old external HDD.

I never tried my hand at making edits for the PS2 Fire Pro Returns so the leap from FFPW to FPW is a bit high and I need some feedback.

I used simonsapp1's version as base models for my edits rather than going completely from scratch with some, like Randy Gomez, being heavily modified.

I didn't bother much with the MMA part of the moveset as I didn't plan for these edits to be used in a non-pro wrestling setting, and for that matter, in a non-late 80's North American promotion. Furthermore, the edit point count is on the lower side with few guys reaching the 150 mark. If the feedback is positive enough, I may try my hand at Natsume Pro Wrestling, another game for which I completely re-imagined the characters as opposed to merely assuming that they were stand-ins for AJPW stars.

Here is a link to my collection.

It's been a while, but I recently made some pretty hefty changes to logic for ALL of the original TWW crew. Some even received moveset makeovers and, in the case of Dr.Guildo, even some new outfits.

Currently ALL of these guys use the base, unmoded moveset.

I'm considering doing an alternate set with the expanded moveset mod.

Now you'll likely say "So, you made some changes... big deal..."

Hey, at least no is spamming finisher 2 minutes in anymore!

Seriously though, I thought I'd also announce two new original creations based on my personal TWW lore - retro Randy Gomez and Julio Falcon!

I figured I'd make a version of the geezers in their respective primes from their days fighting in Puerto Rico. They were a team, hence the matching outfits (helps that both Ecuador and Venezuela share a common color scheme).

As always, feedback would be GREATLY appreciated.
