My god.

So on Saturday night we ran a few deathmatches on the latest SCFL show. These usually end up being pretty wacky, but this one saw newly-discovered hardcore icon (as in he was not seen as this two weeks ago) Front Reed take on Fragrant Tanaka (in his cool 'Drive' jacket) and the whole match is really cool, but watch from this point forward and... Just... Yeah.

https://youtu.be/jIJQ3-gdUek?t=730

By far our shining moment on commentary, which equated to a lot of WHAT THE FUCK!? WHAT THE FUCK!? OH MY GOD.

Essentially, these guys kept hitting the goddamned boards and blowing up. It was just beautiful to watch.

That was really awesome :D

Spoiler: show
That Complete Dust punctuating the brutality was perfect.

Someone needs to tell Tanaka not to bring a knife to an exploding barbed wire fight

You're using a mod to allow them to fight on the outside, right?

Yeah, Carl's More Match Options mod allows for a lot of cool stuff, like the expanded weapons (fork, sickle), being able to use the boards as an actual corner to allow for corner moves (no dives, though) and turning off lumberjack in those matches. I'm not sure why it was ever on in the first place.

Yeah, I wish lumberjack had the option of being turned on in the past, at the minimum.

Love how the More Match Options allow for those features. Always wanted to consistently battle on the boards.

I like when Spike allowed us to use Corner Grapples in death matches too. I knew that was a glitch on their part but it was really fun and I wish they had not gotten rid of that ability. At least I'd like the option.

One mark-out moment now. Barton Miller vs. Tetsu Gushiken. About 16 minutes in and Barton made a huge comeback, has offensive momentum and got Tetsu in a bad place after it looked like Tetsu was going to win earlier. Barton pulls guard in front grapple, successfully transitions into back mount where he'd likely go for a german suplex pin but Tetsu reverses from back mount into the reverse achilles hold. Barton holds on for three referee checks and taps out at the fourth, then rolls on the ground with a broken leg. Awesome finish 8-)

Also, I learned that if you highlight a match on the grid in league mode then press "start" (for the auto-mode to take over) the highlight on the match is acknowledged and you start with that match. It doesn't just choose the match at the top left of the grid (the first vs. second wrestler). I never knew that before

Been a while since I played league, but if memory serves, my biggest gripe with league mode is that certain edits almost always have the same corner in every match.

Let's use a 4 edit league as an example. Edit #1 will always have the left corner. Edit #4 will always have the right corner.

Edits #2 and #3 will have their corners vary, depending on who they face.

If you are one of those simmers that just like to run a sim and walk away just for the purpose of getting results, this should not affect you.

But if you prefer sitting and watching the matches, this little, shall I say, "feature" irks me seeing certain edits always in the same corner.

So I use Challonge to manage my leagues instead and just sim in exhibition mode, using Challonge to assign the matches - and the corners. This way, if I'm running a 10 edit league, for example, with each edit facing each other twice in a round robin format, each edit will use both corners equally.

Hope I make sense here.

I'm liking what I'm reading though in everyone's league tests like you are doing as well as Firehawk's. Keep it up :)

Been testing and putting the final touches on my Ash Defiant edit. Put on a killer match with Vicki. Got excited with the match rating.

I usually sim one on one matches, but for some reason I decided to watch a barbwire death match with a Taker and an Austin who's logic I've been working on. Austin got his got ass kicked, came back, got caught with a tombstone, kicked out at 14:58, and then the explosion went off.

Didn't even know this was possible I thought one of them always got up. What a war :smoking:

Interesting point. I definitely see what you mean in regards to the match but I never really noticed it before. Is it just an issue with repetition or is it an RNG issue that you have with it?

Maybe they can run a "King of the Corner" tournament so they have to defend that corner! (as long as it's not the bottom corner since no one would ever be able to pin the king and uncrown them  )

I'm having a lot of fun with league results. I've been kind of busy recently but on my computer and running leagues allows me to enjoy FP a little if I run them in the background and every now and then check out the end of a match. Plus, I always make sure to catch the finals of the resulting league tournament 8-)

I expanded my league blocks to 18 in each block for the current league. This may take a few days

God I wish I was recording for this.

Was doing a royal rumble with WWE guys and it came down to Braun , Style, and Orton.

Styles sets Braun up for the styles clash, but as he does the arms out pose, Orton hits an RKO.

Legit one of the coolest moments in my 20 years of playing fire pro.

I may have finally figured out how to properly execute the People's Elbow sequence that finishes on a pinfall.

That is awesome. Just reading the numbers, but does the taunt increase the down time because the game knows that it's linked the People's Elbow? The spinebuster left them down at 255, taunt happens and it increases to 400+. Leaving enough time for the taunt, the move to hit and provide the pin fall. If it wasn't so late, I'd try testing it myself. Just makes me wonder if it stays 255 without the taunt, which is why it's difficult to get the pin off the move in the first place.

(I fell asleep in the middle of the stream. Woke up and panicked because I had to write an RP post. lol)

It's a MED slot move. The Reverse Waterwheel Drop is the closest I could get to an actual Spinebuster since I use the Twisting Bottom Drop in the SML + MED category for one of her other finishing spots.

I'm not entirely sure on the specifics, but I think the length of the taunt helped.

I tried it with the Bewitching Pose and it wasn't quite enough, but the Oath Pose is (and it works with the character). I'll have to test it more to get definitive proof, but it seems like if the taunt sequence is long enough - My guess is the end frame has to set the meter to 400+ for the edit to be able to pin - Then the sequence could be replicated with other moves.

There could be other variables to it: Edit Movement Speed, if the opponent has Quick Return as a part of their Special Skill, previous recovery frames stored, among other things.

Any additional information I find on this topic will probably end up being posted in the Edit Tips thread.
