It's a deal where both teams give each other one strike to start each inning. It's like a good sportsmanship thing.

Really now? And what happens when they reach three strikes?

They're nine away from a perfect game, of course.

It's something that happens often in puroresu matches and takes a few different forms.

One guy tries to do a clothesline or strike combo, and the other no sells it, just standing there. He may point to the ropes and tell him to try that again. He might feed his chest and tell him to chop again.

Then they switch, and the other guy no sells it.

This continues for a few rounds with both guys wearing down until someone finally loses the exchange (either by finally bumping for the strikes, or a sudden wrestling move).

It's about stepping up the opponent and saying "I can take everything you can dish out". And it's one of the best moments of the match.

North American wrestling matches have strike exchanges, but do to cultural and tone differences they are usually pointless.

Now that sounds interesting, I'll admit. Can't wait to see how it's implemented in Fire Pro Wrestling World.

Common thing in modern Puroresu wheras in the old days there was just sometimes chops or slaps back and forth but not always in every match.

It came to eventually replace working submisson holds. Certainly replaced the Nwa working holds system Ajpw used to have and Njpw's old mat and limbwork based approach.

Strike exchanges were implemented really well in the All Star Pro Wrestling games from Square. Not great games otherwise, but they had a few things going for them.

If that were the case, I'd expect you to port your 1994 OS roster to Fire Pro World.

Nah, strike exchange is when edits refuse to sim until they get better pay and working conditions.

Absolutely! Near unlimited edit slots, man! 2700+ ball players is NOTHING.

There are a few games that have them, actually.

I wasn't a huge fan of ASPWIII but I did love being able to initiate a strike exchange in the same way I could initiate the take over headscissor exchange in KOCII.

If only we can have exchanges that last this long. Wonder if it will be based off of stamina or something so it's random amount of strikes. Like how the mounted punching keeps going. Nothing I hated more than canned animation in 2k series with 6 punches every time for example.
