Tom Petty's death hit me hard. He was one of the first concerts I went to with my parents. It was 1995 Dogs with Wings tour in Pelham, Alabama. One of my fondest family memories. RIP

I actually didn't get into Petty until I got older, hated him in my teens, but once I hit mid 30's, got into his music, I guess when you get older your taste changes, he will be missed, love how that comic captured it perfectly.,......

Wasn't a huge fan, but they had a couple good tunes.....

Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie passes away at 53

The Tragically Hip frontman and Canadian music icon Gord Downie passed away last night at the age of 53.
The Downie family confirmed the news in a statement this morning via The Tragically Hip Twitter account.
In it, they said, "Gord knew this day was coming – his response was to spend this precious time as he always had – making music, making memories and expressing deep gratitude to his family and friends for a life well lived, often sealing it with a kiss… on the lips."
Gord knew this day was coming – his response was to spend this precious time as he always had – making music, making memories and expressing deep gratitude to his family and friends for a life well lived, often sealing it with a kiss… on the lips.
Gord said he had lived many lives. As a musician, he lived “the life” for over 30 years, lucky to do most of it with his high school buddies. At home, he worked just as tirelessly at being a good father, son, brother, husband and friend. No one worked harder on every part of their life than Gord. No one.
We would like to thank all the kind folks at KGH and Sunnybrook, Gord’s bandmates, management team, friends and fans. Thank you for all the help and support over the past two years.
Thank you everyone for all the respect, admiration and love you have given Gord throughout the years – those tender offerings touched his heart and he takes them with him now as he walks among the stars. Love you forever Gord."
Downie was diagnosed with a terminal brain cancer — a glioblastoma — in May of 2016.

Gord Downie, John Dunsmore (aka Trailer Park Supervisor extraordinaire Jim Lahey)... Rough week for Canadian entertainment. It's odd, but I've been listening to lots of Tragically Hip for the past week asking friends and coworkers if they've heard any updates on Downie. A coworker of mine caught the farewell tour when they came through town, she said it was an awesome show, and at the end Downie thanked everyone and said it was a pleasure doing business with you all. Apparently there were not a lot of dry eyes in the place as everyone was filtering out of the building. Really crappy news... :(

About a week late, but music legend Fats Domino passed on. Dude had some great music, and was a local hero.
It's not enough to look like an edit to be an edit. You have to act like them too.

Yeah Malcolm Young was not a real surprise as he'd been ill for a while, but still sad news. Been a huge AC/DC fan for almost 30 years.

Certainly not a household name but Hiromi Tsuru died two days ago, aged 57
She's best known as the voice of Bulma for the entire 30+ year existence of the Dragon Ball animated franchise.

Charles Manson died of natural causes a few days ago.

Also, former Patriots/Cowboys WR Terry Glenn died at 43 in a traffic collision.

This hurts. I loved crazy bitchy Bulma and it does sorta feel like Bulma herself died.

I'm supposing Bulma is in the current series and they'll have to find a new voice actor for her.

The Cranberries were awesome and her voice was absolutely transcendent.

Linger is one of those songs that never gets old no matter how many times I hear it. She was a tremendous voice.

R. Lee Ermey, best known for playing Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in Full Metal Jacket and having one of the best ad-libbed scenes in all of cinema, passed away today at 74.

Toy Story, almost any cartoon that called for a crazed military man, video games, Ermey was everywhere, and amazing.

I had to do a tribute edit for the Gunny. Never saw the man in anything that I didn't find immensely enjoyable.

Dude did a LOT of personal appearances for active duty and fellow veteran soldiers as well. It says a whole lot that despite his fame as a character actor, he never forgot the men and women still doing the deal. "The Gunny" through and through.

Also, film director Milos Forman passed away a couple of days ago. If you're not familiar with his name, you're probably at least familiar with his two masterpieces: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and "Amadeus."
