Much like the year 2015 was predicted in movie form, so was the year 2016:

I guess the guys behind the upcoming FPS action movie Hardcore Henry got their start doing this fantastic Russian music video for the band Biting Elbows which inspired the movie.

I completely forgot about Sony's PS3 'This is Living' ad campaign which I loved. Discovered all the 'This is Living' ad segments were based around this five minute short film.

There was an old PC game called "Sierra Boxing."

It was one of my favorite computer games growing up. It had a TON of boxing legends to choose from, not all that unlike Fire Pro in the "Dream match" department and the solid gameplay.

The one thing that stood out about that game throughout my life was the kangaroo boxer. So whenever I see footage of Kangaroo boxing, I think of this game, whose kangaroo predated Roger from Tekken as well.

Spoiler: show
Image

Another similarity with Fire Pro is that you can occasionally injure an opponent. It's random, just like a CRITICAL really. It's not something you can intentionally aim for, it just happens. (though I'm sure the "Jason Blackhart" clone equivalent of the Sierra Boxing community has worked it all out to a science  ).

The first time I fought the kangaroo, he beat me pretty handily. I was pissed. I came into the rematch with fire in my eyes. A little too much, apparently. In the rematch, I injured him badly. I felt regret that entire day

The more I think about this game, the more it reminds me of Fire Pro:

That sounds pretty awesome!

A major part of why I'm not a PC gamer as an adult is because I wasn't one as a kid. I didn't get my first PC until I was in middle school, by which point I was pretty hooked on Nintendo (besides, it only ran DOS ).

I would like to think that if I had played something like that as a gradeschooler, I'd be pretty hardcore into PC gaming now. Regardless, that seems pretty daggone neat.

I had no idea that a vg Kangaroo fighter predated Roger XD

Sierra Boxing was not a popular game so very few people know about it. Roger is definitely the most successful kangaroo boxer in games, but he owes his lineage to this guy who I still have to pay injury settlements to

I was a hybrid console/PC gamer and went hard into either at various points in time depending on what games were out. While NES and SNES were mah thang most of the time, I still have many great memories on Commodore 64 and early-mid 90's style graphic adventure games on PC. But, with a few scattered exceptions, I went mainly console from 95 up until a few years ago when Steam started gathering...(sorry) steam for PC gaming again :D

I put a lot of hours into Sierra Boxing cause I really enjoyed the gameplay and the huge roster. There may have been a minor "Create-a-fighter" element too now that I remember. It definitely had some Fire Pro similarities.

Never been a big fan of Game of Thrones. It's a metal cover of the Team America "Fuck Yeah" song set to Game of Thrones. Contains spoilers from this past season.

Big fan too.

My earliest musical memories are from men at work.

Edit: I didn't realize this was a one year bump. I only saw November 12th.
